LOCAL 14

Last night was the gala. I am so glad it's over...today I can just breeze in and out and try not to get noticed. I did sell the two big heads on stands last night as well as a half dozen or so garden heads. Nice. People are very responsive to those things. Got ots of positive reactions to the snail bug. It was a test run...it hasn't sold, but got lots of comments. I need to just keep working at it. I'm getting there, but sometimes I just feel so old. Yesterdays trial over the glass artist that got traded spots with me was too much...hope everything goes more smoothly today.

nothing new

I delivered my masks to the show yesterday and I should not have been so hard on myself. After seeing some of the other work submitted I feel like they will fit right in. *sigh* I don't know what I was expecting, but apparently I have not reached the big time...I feel that my work is still very low-scale amature from my perspective and the other work in the show is at that same level too in my eyes. I haven't moved to the next level either apparently. *double sign* What's it gonna take?? How do I make work that I can feel proud of? LOCAL 14 opens this week and I am scared about that. I dont' feel ready or high enough caliber, although that show is not exactly "the big time" either. Forty years later and it's still very much the same. Artists that have moved on from it may have been given their start there, but once "discovered" they move on to bigger seas. I still feel like a tiny fish in a small pond. Maybe I should make some fish.
